This modern bench is made of quartersawn maple to minimize wood grain, with steel dowels to elevate the bench top.
The Children’s Museum Preschool in West Hartford, CT asked me to build a bench in honor of three retiring teachers. They taught my 12 year old son when he attended the school, and my 4 year old daughter just finished there. I was honored to be part of their celebrations. Similar to the kids’ benches below, this bench is made of Spanish cedar and finished in a durable marine varnish.
I enjoyed this build as it was very close to home: these benches were for my daughter’s preschool. They are made of Spanish cedar and finished in a super-durable marine varnish. They’re sized just right for little legs, my daughter tested them out!
